About the court
The High Court of Delhi is the High Court for the National Capital Territory of Delhi. In criminal matters it exercises appellate, revisional, writ and inherent jurisdiction, and supervises the district courts of Delhi.
Criminal matters heard
- anticipatory bail and regular bail under Sections 482 and 483 BNSS (formerly Sections 438 and 439 CrPC);
- petitions for quashing of FIRs and criminal proceedings under Section 528 BNSS (formerly Section 482 CrPC);
- criminal appeals, including appeals from convictions by Sessions Courts and appeals against acquittal;
- criminal revision petitions under Section 442 BNSS (formerly Section 401 CrPC);
- writ petitions under Article 226 of the Constitution, including habeas corpus.
