The Tis Hazari court complex is one of the district court complexes functioning under the supervision of the Delhi High Court.
Criminal matters heard
District court complexes in Delhi house Sessions Courts and courts of Metropolitan Magistrates. Criminal matters commonly heard in these courts include:
- anticipatory bail and regular bail applications;
- trials before Sessions Courts and Metropolitan Magistrates;
- complaints under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act;
- applications under Section 175(3) BNSS (formerly Section 156(3) CrPC);
- criminal revisions and appeals from orders of Magistrates, before the Sessions Court.
Which court hears a particular matter depends on the police station concerned, the nature of the offence and the allocation of work notified from time to time.
